How to Clean Your Home with a {Steam Machine}

This is a sponsored post, but all opinions are completely mine.
HomeRight asked if I would like to try out their Steam Machine.
Oh I believe I would! YES!

Using steam to clean your home is an eco-friendly way to sanitize surfaces of all kinds. There are no toxic residues or a need for cleaners with dangerous chemicals and fumes. Not to mention,  steam kills many known bacterias.

Water, a cloth and this dandy HomeRight C800880 SteamMachine Steamer for Steam Cleaning and Wallpaper Removal
is all you need. This machine has multiple uses,
so therefore it comes with a variety of attachments.

My teenage son, who is mechanically inclined, began to inspect all of the parts as soon as the box arrived.
The first space we tackled was his bathroom.

We first read all the instructions and safety warnings.
Do not let small children use the machine, and when my 16 year old wanted to use it, I supervised him at all times.
I'm not a huge fan of mopping, so the idea of being able to sanitize ceramic tile floors was a huge plus.
The cleaning cloth is easily attached to the large brush attachment.
You pull the trigger on the handle and steam away.
My boy was excited to try out some other attachments,
so the mirror was next. The squeegee attachment works great for shower doors, windows and even garments and killing dust mites in mattresses, when you remove the rubber lip.
(The warning when cleaning glass is to make sure the glass surfaces are not cooler than 32 degrees F.)

I found that the machine needed to rebuild steam pressure fairly often, but that gives you time to wipe the surfaces clean,
and provides a little rest too!

The manufacturer recommends that you only use the Steam Machine no more than an hour at a time.
The handle does get a little warm to the touch after awhile also.
The next space I wanted to clean was the kitchen.
I started with the oven.
No need to use products with dangerous fumes, etc.
The nylon brush attachment worked well to help
scrub away any baked on spills. Then I wiped the oven interior with a towel until dry and clean.
The oven racks, and oven window also did well being steamed.
The gas stovetop was next on the list.
I used the nylon brush attachment for the smooth surface and to scrub the cast iron grates. I dabbed a little Dawn liquid detergent on the grates and scrubbed. The jet nozzle worked well for the smaller spaces and to blast the grates clean.

The flooring I have in my kitchen is unsealed slate tile.
Since the directions cautions against anything unsealed,
I tested a small section in my laundry room, and all was good.

The steam literally melted away some drips and spots that mopping had not eliminated. In some of the traffic areas,
I took off the cleaning pad and used the scrub brush directly.
Then went over it again with the pad to absorb all the dirty water.
My kitchen floors look so clean. The cleaning pad is proof!
I decided against showing you a picture,
since the pad is really dirty and icky.

I had to experiment too with the kitchen baseboards. I tested
a spot to see if the steam affected the painted wood, then I proceeded to clean those poor neglected baseboards.

You really don't want to see that picture either of the brown dirty water running off the baseboards. I don't remember how long it has been since I have cleaned those baseboards, but it's been too long.
Let's just say, they are clean now!

You should not use steam on laminate flooring, unsealed hard wood,
or unglazed ceramic surfaces. The steam may warp the material.

This HomeRight C800880 SteamMachine Steamer  is addicting!

It has great reviews!

The holidays are around the corner, so I've got to keep on cleaning! I know there's more dirt, grease,
and grime to tackle. My sealed wood floors may be next.
